The People InvolvedSound
Box was originally conceived by Alistair MacDonald, the Technical Director at Beaumont
Colson Ltd. Alistair has a keen personal interest in broadcasting matters and a history of
involvement with the broadcasting industry, through his work with RSLs, hospital radio,
and other projects involving digitised audio and video. He now leads the Sound Box
development team.
The
Idea
Sound Box was developed in an effort to improve on the usability of
studio automation products. Taking advantage of state of the art technical resources and
using open standards, Sound Box was produced using motion analysis and involved experts in
the field of radio broadcasting. Studio concepts are represented intuitively and are
easily accessible.
The
Product
After much external consultation and extensive in-house development,
Beaumont Colson Ltd.'s studio automation project came to fruition. The result was an
extremely reliable, technically advanced and yet easy to use broadcasting solution. Sound
Box was born. Now, after rigorous testing in a variety of challenging environments (such
as NATO broadcasts in war torn Kossovo) and with a strong user base, feedback is extremely
encouraging. With a wide range of secure management utilities, an enjoyable and intuitive
broadcasting screen, and no hidden hardware surprises, Sound Box provides unrivalled cost
performance.
Continued
Development
Sound Box as a product is not standing still. There is a planned
development approach that incorporates users' contributions and aims to expand the
utilities offered. Sound Box will continue to evolve as technology progresses. |
